Our Story
We are parents to three wonderful boys 3 years old and younger. We started using Love and Logic® techniques when our oldest son was becoming completely exhausting to be around. We could not figure out why he had seemed to stop listening to us and why our disciplinary methods weren't working. We had baby gates up throughout the house, were dealing with dramatic temper tantrums, often had things thrown in anger or frustration and our sweet baby boy was transforming into an angry and miserable toddler. Our parenting methods, although well intentioned, were simply not working.
Love and Logic® was recommended to us by a family counselor and the first day after reading the book, "Love and Logic Magic for Early Childhood", everything changed. No one was raising their voices. The temper tantrums had all but evaporated. Three days after using the techniques described in the book we took down all of our baby gates. Our two-year-old was staying out of the rooms we designated as out of bounds and was staying off the stairs. These methods really worked for us and our kiddos. We were astounded.
We were so impressed with this method that involved no anger, guilt, shame or parent-policemen that we decided to invest in the teaching materials so that we could help parents who found themselves in similar situations. We know first hand that as parents we deeply we love our kids; but we also know how exhausting and miserable parenting these loved ones can be at times. For us, parenting has become fun for us again and we would love to pass on the techniques that have worked so well in our home. Of course we still work through the occasional temper tantrum or meltdown, and we don't get it right every time; but we are learning more from our mistakes - and look forward to tomorrow. We not only love our kids more than ever, we have learned how to enjoy being a parent again. We have rediscovered relational parenting, as well as learned about healthy limit setting and enforceable consequences.
